The subject matter of my artwork is to create a functional everyday design out of recycled objects. It looks like a bunch of little cubbies that you can put things in. I created my artwork by choosing different size shoe boxes, and hot glued them together , the way that I prefered. I then had to Mod Podge all of the boxes so that when I spray painted the edges you couldn't see the boxes and etc , it also made it very sturdy. Next I spray painted the edges of the boxes black. I waited for the spray paint to dry and the next day I painted the inside purple, a color that matched my room. I waited for the inside to dry and then went on to place my stencils down and etc. No one really inspired my artwork. It's more of a personal issue , since the boxes couldn't hold my shoes I figured that they can hold other things , as it sits on my wall of course. My goals as an artist is to walk away with a perspective of new techniques , skills , and etc. The final piece isn't how I thought it would come out. It came out better than I had expected it to.

My artwork looks as if the graffiti letters are being lifted up by these hawk like wings , I created my artwork by choosing the colors I wanted the background to be and the letters, I then spray painted it . Next I drew the word believe , cut it out and applied it to my medium paper, after taping the parts that needed to stay down. I then spray painted over that with a black spray paint as you can see, I then drew the wings and also cut them out , I completed the same process as I did with the word , but instead I spray painted the wings gold. I let everything dry and then took the word believe and wings off. After that I went around the words in gold tempera paint and added some splashes of gold paint above the word. The big idea behind my work is that you should always believe in yourself and try your hardest to accomplish whatever you set your mind to. This piece somewhat helped me reach my goals , I learned the different techniques and ways to spray paint , and I also learned the different ways to add pieces and shapes to your work with stencils. My overall thoughts is that I truthfully could've done better and added more details to my artwork. Artist Statement:
The title of my artwork is called "Love of music". It looks like a 3-D block with a heart and a treble clef is in the middle of the heart. I personally feel as if i don't really have a subject matter , i guess you can just say my love for music is very strong , based off the artwork I've created. My artwork was made from white clay. I use several tools to actually shape this piece and etc. I did a lot of scoring and slipping. No one really inspired my artwork , I wanted to do something that represented me , and for the most part music represents a major part of my life. I would say my artwork represents a personal issue. As of right now I don't have any goals as an artists but to improve and look into different types of artworks and etc. I guess I've accomplished what I wanted with this piece because I did explore different things, such as how to make a ceramic relief sculpture. In creating this artwork , I learned that building some of the music notes from clay was harder than I thought it would be. |
